Wear Pirate Clothes and Be a Daredevil To Sail Through The Sea by Andy
Pirate clothing was famous long back when pirates carried out extended sea voyages and others feared their very existence. The mythical clothing of pirate leaders has now become a label. There were many reasons why pirates preferred flashy clothing. Most common reason was that, they had to be a symbol of merciless robbers of the seas to common people. These pirates wore stolen clothes from sea travelers and sailors. If one sees some pictures of that era in films and books, those pirates have mostly donned clothes made out of colorful fabric, knitted caps and lots of accessories. Pirate fashion back then, depended upon how loaded a pirate was. The richer ones wore vivid and stronger color tones and carried a sash which was made of gold threads, embedded diamonds and other precious stones like sapphires, ruby, emerald and amethyst. Pirate shirts were white or cream in color and had puffed sleeves. Only the wealthy pirates wore a waist coat on the shirt.
The use of different fabrics for different pirates was a mandatory practice. Only the pirate Captain could wear exquisite fabric like velvet, camlet, and rayon silk. The others dressed up in wool, sheepskin, fleece and linen. The activities of a pirate seaman were different on land and sea. The captain did not perform day to day tasks unlike the seamen who had to carry out laborious tasks like climbing, sword fighting, roping and wiring, so they had to wear tight fitted clothes as loose ones would restrict their movements and hamper work. Renaissance clothing is enthused by the olden characters like kings, queens, soldiers, knights, princesses and pirates. Renaissance shirts were inspired by the sophistication of medieval times when both kings and soldiers represented their lifestyle by their clothing. Medieval shirts and dresses were decorated with fancy lace, puffed and ruffled sleeves, and the material used was velvet, linen, satin, crepe, and linen.
Pirates had an inimitable and antique sense of fashion which is getting popular among youth who try their best to look classy and sassy in those costumes. That is why now, pirate clothing is not worn in the traditional way like before, and instead it is clubbed with contemporary western and bohemian clothes. Medieval boots have been the signature style of those times when they could forget any accessory except boots. Medieval boots are made out of leather and often teamed up with buckles and leather laces. Renaissance clothing is a blend of colorful, intricate and majestic cuts, colors and design. The significance of some colors was to denote the status of the person and his hold in the society. For instance, under the Elizabethan laws, commoners were restricted from wearing certain colors like navy blue, crimson, azure etc, which could only be donned by Royalty. Breach of color conduct was even punishable by the Queen.
